Our history

Piwi Femma was founded in the early 1990s, when Mariusz and Anna Kurczewski – then students at the Lodz University of Technology – decided to start their own knitting workshop. Their first steps were taken in a small child’s bedroom, later moving into a garage where they fulfilled their initial orders on hand-operated knitting machines.

As time went on, the company began to grow, gradually acquiring new machinery and hiring skilled specialists. In 2000, we introduced computer-controlled knitting machines, which significantly increased our production precision and allowed us to expand to both domestic and European markets.

After a decade of steady growth – while many producers moved manufacturing to the Far East – we chose to strengthen our local operations and invest heavily in modern technology.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented a challenge, but also an opportunity to demonstrate our flexibility. We shifted part of our production to protective apparel for medical professionals, supporting those who needed it most.

In the years that followed, we introduced WholeGarment seamless knitting technology, enabling us to produce even more precise and comfortable garments. At the same time, we invested in sustainable solutions – including an Electrolux finishing unit with a biofilter system, which significantly reduced our environmental footprint.

Today, Piwi Femma combines decades of experience with cutting-edge technology. Our production remains proudly based in Poland, and we continue to invest in innovation to deliver the highest quality knitwear to fashion brands across Europe.
